HOW IT WORKS
Finding clarity and direction in the middle of uncertainty
Individual therapy designed to help you reconnect with yourself and move forward.
At Greenfield Counselling, our goal is to help adults make sense of what’s keeping them stuck and start to feel like they’re moving forward again.
We provide individual counselling for adults navigating mental health challenges and emotional distress. Sessions are grounded and relational, focused on clarity, acceptance, responsibility, and change.

Individual Talk Therapy
How Individual Therapy Works
Think of talk therapy as a steady place to lay things out. It’s not about performing, being judged, or pretending you’re fine. It’s about sitting down with someone who listens carefully, asks honest questions, and helps you work through what feels too heavy to carry alone.
What to expect
Sessions are simple and grounded. We might untangle looping thoughts, sit with avoided feelings, or just create space to breathe. There’s no “shoulds” here. The pace follows what you need most.
What it’s great for
Individual therapy helps when you feel stuck, stretched thin, or unsure. It’s especially useful for mental health concerns (anxiety, depression, trauma), coping skills, self-understanding, improving relationships, life transitions, healing from the past, and personal growth.
How we’ll get started
1.
MEET & GREET
A free 15-minute call to see if we’re a good fit. Ask questions, get a feel for my approach, and decide if you’d like to move forward.
2.
A DEEP DIVE
Our first full session is where we explore what brought you to therapy – your story, your background, and your culture.
3.
MOVING AHEAD
Ongoing sessions, we’ll continue to explore who you are, where you’re at, and where you want to be, and we’ll collaborate on how best to get there.

KIND WORDS FROM CLIENTS
Why They Choose Greenfield
“Since talking to Matt at Greenfield and that bit he mentioned about thinking of yourself as separate from anxiety and making decisions based on what I actually care about, I’ve been able to move past some things I’ve been holding on to and start living fuller.”
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Starting therapy can often come with a few questions.
Here you’ll find straightforward answers about how our online sessions work and what you can expect from the process. If something you’re wondering about isn’t covered, just reach out and I’ll be glad to walk you through it.

Online therapy is simply counselling that happens through a secure video platform instead of in person. You meet with your therapist from home, your office, or wherever you have privacy.
In Canada, online therapy works much like a traditional session: you book an appointment, log in at your scheduled time, and have a one-on-one conversation with your therapist. Everything you share is private and confidential, just as it would be in a physical office.
The benefit is access. Whether you live in a big city or a rural farming community, you don’t have to drive hours, sit in traffic, or rearrange your whole day. You just sign in and start talking.
At Greenfield Counselling, online therapy is designed to meet you where you are. You don’t need to have the perfect words or a clear plan. You just need to show up, and we’ll sort through it together, whether that’s anxiety, burnout, grief, a life transition, or the quiet sense that you’ve lost yourself along the way.
-
Online therapy can be a good fit if you want support but don’t have the time, energy, or ability to get to an office. For many people, it’s the most accessible way to start therapy, you just log in from home, work, or anywhere you feel comfortable and private.
-
Some insurance plans in Canada cover sessions with a Certified Canadian Counsellor, but not all. The best way to know is to check directly with your provider about your specific plan.
If you do have coverage, you’ll typically pay for your session up front and then submit your receipt to your provider for reimbursement.

I accept e-transfer, debit, and credit card for session payments.

Greenfield Counselling is set up primarily for secure video sessions, that way we can see each other, which often makes the work feel more connected and personal.
That said, if video isn’t possible for you because of internet issues, privacy at home, or comfort level, phone sessions can be arranged.
The most important thing is that you have a private space where you can speak openly.
Whether by phone or video, the process is the same: you book through our Jane App link, and at your appointment time, you connect with Matt for your session. Everything you share remains private and confidential.

Many clients feel some relief after their very first session. Talking to a supportive, non-judgmental therapist can ease the weight you’ve been carrying, even if the deeper work takes more time.
Lasting change depends on what brings you to therapy. For some, 5–12 sessions is enough. For others, the process takes longer.
In our first session, we’ll set goals together so you have a clear sense of where you’d like therapy to go and how it can best support you.

I offer flexible options to fit different schedules. Most sessions take place during the day on weekdays, with limited evening and weekend spots available. If you need a specific time, it’s best to book a few weeks in advance to secure your preferred slot.
