ABOUT GREENFIELD

Therapy for the quiet in-between.

Most of the people who find me aren’t in crisis. They’re not broken. They’re just tired. Tired of holding it together, tired of second-guessing themselves, tired of living lives that don’t feel like their own anymore.

I’m here for that quiet in-between. The place where life no longer works the way it used to, and the next step feels unclear.

THE GREENFIELD APPROACH

You already have what you need.

Our work together isn’t about fixing you because you’re not a machine. It’s not about handing you a checklist or attempting to mold you into someone else’s idea of “better.” It’s about sitting down in the middle of your real life, past the, “I’m fine,” “it’s not so bad,” “it could be worse,” and “at least…” It’s about looking at it to look again, name what hurts, feel the emotions, discover what you care about, and make it a part of your story. Growth does not come from increasing the pressure, but with self discovery and guided support, we can be empowered to take responsibility, drive our own lives, and create the lives we would want to live.

ABOUT THE THERAPIST

Meet Matt

Counselling Therapist | CCC, MTS, MACP

Matt specializes in supporting clients facing anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, identity and spirituality, and farm and rural specific mental health challenges.

With training in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Existential Psychotherapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT),  Matt brings a flexible, evidence-informed approach to every session. He tailors his methods to fit each client, helping them make sense of what they’re carrying, or being carried by, and take practical steps toward clarity, balance, and agency.

Rooted in rural Canadian life, Matt understands the weight of “going it alone.” He combines clinical expertise with lived perspective to create therapy that feels straightforward, honest, and deeply human.

Greenfield means possibility.

A fresh field. A place where new things can grow, and all green things, the mature pine, the seedling, the leaves of grass, grow the same way, by becoming tender and pushing toward the light.

OUR FRAMEWORKS

There’s no one-size-fits-all in therapy.

We’ll use a few approaches to meet you where you are and tailor support to what you need most.

Here are some of the main modalities we’ll work within:

  • Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) to help us feel better by weeding unhelpful thought patterns and building practical ways to respond (behave) differently.

  • Narrative Therapy to put your story back in your hands by looking at the meanings you’ve been carrying — and how they can change.

  • Existential Psychotherapy where we explore life’s bigger questions, purpose, meaning, direction, when old anchors no longer hold.

  • Solution-Focused Therapy to zero in on what’s already working and builds small, realistic steps forward.

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to make peace with what can’t be controlled while moving toward what matters most.

Each of these approaches is a tool, but the real work is in how we use them together, in ways that fit your life.

What clients are saying about Greenfield Counselling

After only a few sessions, clients describe fewer racing thoughts, more breathing room in their day, and a stronger sense of self.

“Matt listens. I feel heard. My other counsellor was all, oh my god, me too. I can open up with him. It’s usually hard for me to trust others.”

“Since talking to Matt at Greenfield and that bit he mentioned about thinking of yourself as separate from anxiety and making decisions based on what I actually care about, I’ve been able to move past some things I’ve been holding on to and start living fuller”
